The Martinelli family has been farming grapes and making wine in Sonoma County since the 1880’s. Our first winery was built in the Russian River Valley in the late 1880’s. Our coastal land, where our Fort Ross-Seaview vineyards are located, was acquired by our ancestors by the Homestead Act of the 1860’s. We have been ranching, farming and living off these lands since 1860 and are the only owners on record in the history of our property. We produce small lots of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Syrah, and Zinfandel from our estate grown grapes located in Russian River Valley, Green Valley of Russian River, Fort Ross-Seaview and Sonoma Coast Appellations. The terroir of each vineyard is what creates the “personality” of each wine and showcases the full range of diversity between them. These vineyards are heavily thinned to yield between one to three tons of fruit per acre and are meticulously farmed by Lee Martinelli Sr., and his two sons, Lee, Jr. and George, continuing five generations of the proud family legacy of care-taking the land. Our winemaker Bryan Kvamme handles the wine with true handcrafted artistry; the wines are neither hot nor cold stabilized, are un-fined and unfiltered, and clarified only by racking before bottling.

Cain Vineyard & Winery is cradled in a spectacular bowl overlooking the Napa Valley from the crest of the Spring Mountain District. They are dedicated to the creation of Cabernet blends, each drawn from its own unique vineyard sources, each with it’s own distinctive signature.
