As we enter the new year of 2024 - a food and wine festival is waiting for us just around the corner. The much-anticipated Forks & Corks Food and Wine Festival is set to take place from January 22nd to January 29th, promising a week filled with educational experiences, exclusive tastings, and unforgettable culinary delights. Online Food and Wine Auction:

Don't miss the chance to bid on a curated collection of rare wines, travel experiences, and unique dining opportunities! SMO Insiders will get the link to preview Auction items on Thursday, January 18, 2024, so make sure you are signed up to receive the Sarasota-Manatee Original e-newsletters and/or follow @941originals on Instagram and Facebook.

The Auction will take place online and will open for real-time bidding on Monday, January 22, at 8:00 am, and will close on Sunday, January 28, at 3:00 pm. All funds raised by the Forks & Corks Online Food and Wine Auction will go towards promoting and sustaining the over 60 local, independent area restaurants that are Members of the Sarasota-Manatee Originals.

Retail Tastings:

The Sarasota-Manatee Originals collaborate with different wine retail shops and other local businesses in the Sarasota, Venice, and Bradenton regions to host wine-tasting events that showcase the participating wineries of Forks & Corks. 

These "pop-up" events provide an opportunity for guests to enjoy wine tasting while mingling with the visiting winemakers and winery principals. The events may vary in size, from large gatherings to more intimate get-togethers, and guests can also shop while sipping their favorite wines.

Master Classes of Forks & Corks University:

Those who participate in a Forks & Corks University Master Class get the opportunity to taste and learn about a variety of wines in a relaxed and interactive setting. Led by a panel of renowned wine professionals and winemakers, each seminar offers a wealth of knowledge and information about the world of wine. Each tasting session lasts for 90 minutes and includes 8-12 wine tastings. The seminars are held at the Michael's on East Ballroom, and tickets are necessary for attendance. Admission to the university includes wine tastings and a pairing plate of light bites specially selected to complement the varietals by our friends at Boar's Head.

The Grand Tasting:

This is an extravagant outdoor experience at The John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art, featuring food specialties from over 40 local restaurants and a collection of 300+ unique wines.

This event sold out quickly - there is a waitlist available.

For those attending, don’t miss this year’s Global Market presented by Edible Sarasota magazine. New this year to the Grand Tasting, the immersive Global Market, presented by Edible Sarasota magazine highlights the cultural diversity of our area's restaurant scene. Available to all Grand Tasting guests, this year’s theme is Fiesta! and our local Mexican and Mexi-Cali restaurants will be spicing up the festival flavor with authentic dishes, drinks, and demos. Viva la vida local!

The Trade Tasting (Invitation Only):

This is an exclusive opportunity for Hospitality Industry Professionals to sample wines from distinguished visiting wineries. The Trade Tasting is a free event exclusively for industry individuals with proper credentials.

Forks & Corks is an annual fundraising event organized by the Sarasota-Manatee Originals. It provides an excellent opportunity for wine enthusiasts and foodies to come together and enjoy a week-long festival. The festival plays a crucial role in supporting local, independently-owned restaurants and promoting the idea of "Eat Like A Local".
