Hillview's newest restaurant is anything but blasé with a romantic vibe and euro-inspired cuisine.
Presented by Blasé Bistro & Martini Bar
Local music fans on Siesta Key and beyond know Blasé Café & Martini Bar is the place to be Friday and Saturday nights for solid bands, carefree dancing and hearty dishes. But like all us "locals," sometimes driving to the Key is a dealbreaker, especially in season. Owners Cynthia Breslin and Kevin Skiest have solved that first-world problem with the opening of the Blasé Bistro on Hillview late last year. They brought an upscale, casual vibe and romantic ambiance to Southside Village, with a brand-new menu to satisfy the discerning foodies and wine connoisseurs of the mainland.
You'll find the menu full of European-inspired dishes like Ratatouille Bruschetta, Spiced Lamb Hummus Flatbread, Shrimp and Polenta, Quinoa Tabbouleh Bowl, Falafel on Housemade Laffa Bread, and Red Curry Mussels. This past month, the cafe has expanded its menu to include lunch service from 11:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. and, wait for it, happy hour starts right after, at 2:30 p.m., and runs through 6 p.m. Monday – Friday.
The prices are moderate and allow you to indulge in a long, savory dining experience if you so choose. For dinner, there are 20 plates for under $20, ideally suited for sharing in the classic European way. Some other specials include 10 happy hour small plates from $5-$8, $6 martinis on Wednesdays, and, right now, 2-4-1 lunches through March 11. Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings there's always great live music to enjoy beginning at 7:30 p.m. Again, a nice reminder of their Siesta Key sister restaurant—but more intimate and low-key in this venue with jazz and blues. Some of the regular performers are popular local favorites like Hot Club SRQ, Ron Kraemer Band and The Alex Ross Trio. Show up with an open mind and an empty belly and let the ambiance take you in! You'll keep going back for more.
